Princess Summerfall Winterspring (Howdy Doody) - Poll-Parrot's Tuk-A-Tab mask (1950s)

$200.00

Step into the world of Howdy Doody with this rare Princess Summerfall Winterspring mask, issued as a Poll-Parrot Shoe Company premium in the early 1950s. Princess Summerfall Winterspring, played by Judy Tyler, was the Native American princess character who joined the Howdy Doody Show cast in 1950. She quickly became one of the most popular figures on the program, beloved for her charm and grace.

Poll-Parrot Shoes was one of the show’s major sponsors, often giving away promotional items like masks, comic books, and paper dolls to entice young customers. This Tuk-A-Tab face mask is a particularly scarce survivor: designed as a punch-out, three-dimensional mask, it features tabs for assembly and vibrant full-color lithography.

Because most children cut, folded, and wore these masks until they were destroyed, intact unassembled examples—especially complete with both sides and instructions—are exceedingly rare today. This one, measuring a large 15" x 12", survives in unassembled vintage condition, making it a showcase piece for advertising, television, and mask collectors alike.
