Wang Ho (The Mandarin) - Kelloggs Corn Flakes Pantomime mask (1955) - backside

$135.00

Original vintage cut-out mask titled “Wang Ho (The Mandarin),” issued on the back of a Kellogg’s Corn Flakes box in 1955 as part of the Pantomime Mask collection. Measures approx. 8" × 11".

The Pantomime set featured theatrical-style characters that children could cut out, punch, and wear. This “Mandarin” character reflects the mid-20th-century use of exaggerated cultural caricatures in advertising — an approach that is now recognized as outdated. Today, pieces like this are collected as historical advertising artifacts, valued for what they reveal about mid-century marketing and the cereal-box premium craze.

Uncut examples are rare, as most were cut up and used by children.

Historical Significance:

Issued in 1955 by Kellogg’s Corn Flakes.

Part of the short-lived Pantomime Mask promotion series.

Represents a theatrical “Mandarin” character design, typical of mid-century pantomime themes.

Scarce survivor from an unusual Kellogg’s mask run.
