Queen Sapphira- Wheaties Cereal mask (1940s-50s) - cereal box
The “Queen Sapphira” mask was one of the elegant and fantasy-inspired characters from Wheaties’ mid-century cereal mask series (1940s–50s). With her jeweled crown, flowing dark hair, and regal gaze, Queen Sapphira stood out as one of the more glamorous figures among the frontier adventurers, animals, and comic-inspired characters also offered.
These masks were printed on the backs of Wheaties boxes for children to cut out and wear. A vintage 1940s advertisement even promoted her alongside “Eric the Viking,” suggesting boys enjoyed the warrior masks while girls preferred the royal-themed Queen Sapphira. Because of their fragile nature, most were discarded soon after use, making full-panel survivors scarce today.
Measures: 8 x 10 inches
Date: 1940s–1950s
Origin: Wheaties cereal backside premium
Rarity: Queen Sapphira is somewhat more elusive than standard characters like Harold Teen or Firefang the Tiger. While not as rare as ultra-scarce figures like Teddy the Bear or Iron Jaw, her advertising tie-in and distinctive royal theme make her especially collectible and desirable to ephemera enthusiasts.
