Mammy Lou - Quick Grits - Famous Cereals Company (1950s) - Unopened and Sealed Box
A striking survivor from the 1950s, this Mammy Lou Quick Grits package was produced by the Famous Cereals Company, Kansas City, Missouri. The bold red-and-white polka dot design is pure mid-century Americana branding, tied to a name and imagery that today is recognized as part of the problematic racial advertising of its time.
What makes this example especially remarkable is that it remains factory sealed and unopened, with its original contents still intact after more than 70 years. Most surviving boxes are empty or flattened, making an intact “new old stock” specimen an exceptional rarity. It stands as both a collectible advertising artifact and a cultural time capsule of American grocery history.
Box measures approximately 7" x 6" x 1.75".
