Farmer Al Falfa (Mighty Mouse Playhouse) - Post Sugar Crisp Cereal mask (1957) - backside
This vintage mask features Farmer Al Falfa, one of the earliest recurring characters in American animation, who later became a supporting figure in the Mighty Mouse Playhouse television era. Issued in 1957 on the backside of Post Sugar Crisp cereal boxes, it was part of a six-mask promotion that brought Saturday morning cartoon favorites into children’s hands.
The artwork highlights Farmer Al Falfa’s trademark bald head, oversized eyes, and flowing white beard—rendered in a classic mid-century cartoon style. As with other Sugar Crisp masks, children were encouraged to cut them out, wear them with string, and then discard them, which has left very few intact survivors today.
