Cleo (Pinocchio) - Gilette Blue Blades - Advertising Promotional Paper Mask (1939)
$40.00
Issued in 1939 by Gillette Blue Blades to tie in with Walt Disney’s release of Pinocchio, this promotional paper mask features Cleo, Geppetto’s beloved goldfish. Part of a full set of characters distributed nationally, these masks were handed out in barbershops and stores to promote Gillette products.
Because Cleo was a secondary character, far fewer examples were saved compared to Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, or Geppetto, making her one of the harder pieces from the series to track down today. Brightly lithographed and marked with her name at the top fin, this mask remains a charming survivor from Disney’s Golden Age of animation and advertising crossover.
Measures approx. 9 ½ inches by 8 inches.
