Cackler (The Witch) - Kelloggs Corn Flakes mask (1954) - backside

$125.00

Original vintage cut-out mask known as “Cackler the Witch,” issued on the back panel of a 1954 Kellogg’s Corn Flakes box. Measures approx. 8" × 11".

By the mid-1950s, Kellogg’s was in full swing with its cereal-box mask promotions, encouraging children to cut, punch, and wear the colorful characters printed right on the packaging. “Cackler” was one of the most eye-catching designs: a green-skinned witch with a toothy grin, pointed hat, and mischievous expression.

These masks were more than just advertising — they reflect the playful, slightly spooky imagery that was popular in post-war American culture, especially around Halloween. Kids almost always cut them apart and wore them until they tore, which makes intact examples like this especially scarce.

Historical Significance:

Issued by Kellogg’s Corn Flakes in 1954.

Part of a series of cereal-box masks that included pirates, animals, and character faces.

Captures the fascination with witches and spooky themes that would later become Halloween staples in American advertising.

Surviving panels are rare, especially in complete, displayable condition.
