Boo Boo Bear - Kelloggs Corn Flakes Hanna Barbara mask (1961) - backside

$60.00

This vintage Boo Boo Bear mask was issued in 1961 on the back of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes during the peak of Hanna-Barbera’s Saturday morning television dominance. Boo Boo, the loyal sidekick to Yogi Bear, had become a beloved figure thanks to his polite manner and cautionary advice—often serving as the moral counterbalance to Yogi’s mischievous schemes in Jellystone Park.

Printed directly onto the cereal box, this mask was meant to be cut out and worn by children, connecting breakfast with television fun. Few survived in complete form, as most were cut, played with, and eventually discarded. The backside panel version, featuring full instructions and bold lithography, is considerably harder to find than loose cutouts.

Year: 1961

Manufacturer: Kellogg’s Corn Flakes (licensed by Hanna-Barbera)

Character: Boo Boo Bear

Type: Backside cereal-box mask

Size: 8.5 x 10.5 inches

Rarity: Boo Boo masks are less common than Yogi or Huckleberry, and backside panels remain especially scarce since intact boxes were rarely saved. Collectors of cereal premiums and Hanna-Barbera ephemera regard Boo Boo as one of the key supporting characters needed to complete the 1961 set.
