Johnny Malotte - Kelloggs Corn Flakes 3d series mask (1951) - cutout (French/Canadian)
This scarce Kellogg’s Corn Flakes mask comes from the early 1951 “3D Series” issued in Canada, featuring Johnny Malotte — companion of Marc Trail, a Canadian outdoorsman/adventure comic strip hero popular in the early 1950s. Printed directly on the back of Corn Flakes boxes, these masks were designed for children to cut out, punch, and wear with string. Because of this play value, very few survived intact.
The French-Canadian issue adds an extra layer of rarity, as regional promotions often had smaller print runs compared to U.S. counterparts. This mask captures the rugged outdoorsman aesthetic of the era — plaid cap, confident smile, and bold illustration — perfectly reflecting the adventurous tone of 1950s Canadian cereal premiums.
